Whiddy Island Loop Directions & Map

From the Bantry pier take the ferry to Whiddy Island (20 minutes). Please consult the seasonal ferry times to Whiddy Island before setting off. The 5km Loop walk on Whiddy Island is part of the Sheep's Head Way and has 2 optional spurs which extend the walk to 7.7km. The main 5km Loop walk has red arrows and is both cross country and on quiet roads. The spur to the viewing point over Lousy Castle is marked with blue arrows and the spur to the historical Middle Battery is also marked with heritage signs. There are mapboards on Whiddy Island with the walks and historical points of interest clearly marked.
