Seefin Loop Directions & Map
From the car park, follow the blue arrows west towards Kilcrohane, turning right after 150m for St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church (Ahakista), and immediately left (sign for Seefin). When you reach the top of Seefin summit at, turn sharply left and descend through a farmyard and across country down to the old road passing a cillín and a fort. Turn left onto the old road, which eventually will become a tarred road, passing by the Átha Thomáis memorial en-route to the main public road. Turn left back to Ahakista Bridge and the car park.
Seefinn, which is the nearby and highest mountain on the peninsula, is the "the seat of Finn", that is, the seat of the legendary Irish hero Finn Mac Cool. Finn made his way to the stronghold of the king of Bantry and joined his band of fighters and trackers, but he told no one his name or lineage. Before long it was clear to all that the newcomer had no equal as a hunter.
