Directions: Set out towards the lighthouse following the red arrows west from Tooreen Car Park until you see the turn right after 300m. Continue past Lough Akeen, down to the helicopter pad where you have the option to walk down the steps to the Sheep’s Head Lighthouse. From the helicopter pad the trail heads back on the northern side of the peninsula in an easterly direction for 4 to 5 km onto a quiet country road. Follow signs for the Poet's Way, crossing a stile to travel across the peninsula to the south, before walking west again along the ridge past the ruins of an old Signal Tower and a WW2 look-out post The Camp until you descend to the car park at Tooreen.
