Trawlebane Bridge
Trawlebane Bridge was the site of pattern dancing, and this area is where Captain Francis O'Neill was born and raised. Francis O'Neill was a major contributor to collecting and preserving traditional Irish music in the 19th and early 20th centuary. He led a full life, from escaping the priesthood, to being shipwrecked in the Pacific, ranching in Montana, to Chief of Police in Chicago. He recognised the devastation the Irish Famine had on Irish traditional music and spent his later years collecting and recording the music. There is a statue and monument to his legacy near here.
